Curriculum

Rosanna Martinelli is from February 2011 Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Salerno.   From 2004 to 2011 Head of Microarray Core Facility at CEINGE Biotecnologie Avanzate in Naples. She graduated in 1982 in Biological Sciences at the University of Naples "Federico II", with honor. From 1983 to 1988 she attended  the PhD in Biochemical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Naples "Federico II".
From 1990 to 1994 she was Postdoctoral Associate at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Rockefeller University in New York (USA). From 2001 to 2010 she was Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Naples "Federico II". As part of the Microarray Core Facility, has played a variety of activities which include production, development and the use of technology both for diagnostic purposes and research. In particular the development of a prototype of a diagnostic kit for the analysis of mutations associated with the development of cystic fibrosis in collaboration with the industrial partner Nuclear Laser Medicine. She has gained considerable experience in the field of the of gene expression profiles at both transcriptional and epigenetic level for the detection of biomarkers associated with the development of degenerative diseases such as molecular characterization of transgenic mice with metastatic small cell lung cancer (SCLC ), induced by the expression of E6/E7 oncoproteins of HPV, the analysis of the expression of genes involved in iron metabolism for the identification of genes responsible for hereditary hemochromatosis not associated with mutations in the HFE gene, variation of gene expression in human cell lines of chronic myeloid leukemia responsible for resistance to Imatinib and analysis of microRNA expression in patients with severe obesity.
