Screening and Discussion of Chemical Valley in Institute, WV

On Thurs. March 11th, the West Virginia State University chapter of the Student Environmental Action Coalition and People Concerned About M.I.C. will co-present a screening of the Appalshop documentary Chemical Valley. The film will be at 6PM at the Davis Fine Arts Theatre on the WVSU campus and will be followed by a question and answer session to discuss the film’s relevance to the present time. » »

Seedtime on the Cumberland Announces Lineup for 2010

Seedtime on the Cumberland 2010, the 24th annual community arts festival presented by Appalshop, will take place June 11-12, with affiliated events on June 10 and 13. Festival events will be held at the Veterans Museum parking lot and along Main Street in downtown Whitesburg. Seedtime 2010 will be held in conjunction with the Whitesburg ARTWALK and the Hobo’s Diner Bike Night and Poker Run. » »
Chemical Executives Guilty in Bhopal Disaster

Eight executives have been convicted of negligence in the 1984 Bhopal disaster in India which killed at least 3,500. The disaster was featured in the 1991 Appalshop documentary "Chemical Valley". » »
