R&I PEERS PROGETTO EUROPEO
Il progetto, finanziato dalla Commissione europea nel quadro di Horizon 2020 (Call: Science with and for Society, H2020-SwafS-2017-1) e coordinato dalla Prof.ssa Maria Rosaria Pelizzari, vede coinvolti, oltre all'Università di Salerno, i seguenti Enti e Istituti Internazionali: Cyprus Neuroscience and Technology Institute (Cipro), Consiglio Nazionale della Ricerca (Italia), Confindustria Salerno con il Comitato Femminile Plurale (Italia), Centro de Investigacion Cooperativa en Nanociencias (Spagna), MIGAL Galilee Research Institute LTD (Israele), Digital Leadership Institute (Belgio), ZRC SAZU Institute of Culture and Memory Studies (Slovenia), National Agency for Scientific Research Promotion (Tunisia), e Hellenic Republic Ministry of Interior (Grecia).
1. Attuazione di 7 GEP (Gender Equality Plan) da parte dei partner afferenti al progetto e appartenenti all'area Mediterranea (UNISA, CNTI, CIC Nanogune, MIGAL, ANPR, GSGE);
2. Colmare il divario di genere nei processi decisionali e nei gruppi di ricerca;
3. Rafforzare la tematica di genere nei programmi di ricerca.

English version:
The R&I PEERS "Pilot Experiences for Improving Gender Equality in Research Organisations" (GA 788171) is a project funded by the European Commission within the framework of Horizon 2020 (Call: Science with and for Society, H2020-SwafS-2017-1). The University of Salerno supported by OGEPO, is the leading beneficiary. The project, coordinated by Professor Maria Rosaria Pelizzari, includes other 9 partners, with the following International Institutions: Cyprus Neuroscience and Technology Institute (Cyprus), National Research Council (Italy), Confindustria Salerno (Italy) supported by the Plural Female Committee, Centro de Investigacion Cooperativa en Nanociencias (Spain), MIGAL Galilee Research Institute LTD (Israel), Digital Leadership Institute (Belgium), ZRC SAZU Institute of Culture and Memory Studies (Slovenia), National Agency for Scientific Research (Tunisia), and Hellenic Republic Ministry of the Interior (Greece).
The R&I PEERS is based on the concept of gender equality, that can be expressed as women and men enjoy the same status and have equal opportunity to realize their full human rights and potential to contribute to national, political, economic, social and cultural development, and to benefit from the results. The R&I PEERS project aims at creating and validating pilot experiences in order to disrupt the gender-biased approach and those unconscious rules that limit the participation and the career of women in research and innovation in the Mediterranean Area.
The proposal aims at realizing and providing a double vision of equality (increasing the numbers of women in decision making positions throughout the R&I system will reduce the waste of European talents) and opportunity (providing support to the R&I entrepreneurship based on more effective deployment female human capital, hence offering an important competitive advantage for strengthening the scientific endeavour). Dissemination and exploitation plans of the project results will then ensure the sustainability of the action after the ending of the H2020 project.
The project main objectives are:
1. Implementation and improvement of 7 GEPs (Gender Equality Plan) in R&I related organisations in the Mediterranean area;
2. Smooth the gap of gender representation in decision-making and research-performing processes;
3. Maximise the impact and the efficacy of gender content into the research programmes.
All the partners will address the three objectives through the following main actions, proposed in their GEPs:
- Removing barriers to the recruitment, retention and career progression of female researchers, through actions such as the preservation of the salary of women during the maternity leave; the introduction of the parental leave; the improving of the tele-work;
- Addressing gender imbalances in decision-making processes through strategies such as the establishment of new rules for the election and selection of members in decision-making bodies;
- Strengthening the gender dimension in research programmes supporting the introduction of content about gender equality issue in the courses and higher education.
